Thomas A. Bennett, artist-in-residence for the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, brings a painterly perspective to the careful observation of wildlife. His style emphasizes anatomical accuracy and is often compared to that of John James Audubon and John Gould, renowned 19th century wildlife artists. It is Bennett's hope that his work will inspire a heightened sense of awareness of the world and its creatures, and foster a greater environmental stewardship.
Tom's work radiates creative talent and incredible technical skill, capturing every shade and shadow with striking precision. He is intensely focused on his subject's authentic character and demeanor, and paints in the tradition of the great masters when it comes to capturing the ornate micro-architecture of fur and feather.
Mr. Bennett is clearly making his mark on the bird world as well as the art world. Many of his paintings are being transformed into limited edition fine art prints and collector plates.

"Spirit of Airborne"
(A Fund Raising Project)As a citizen who is proud of our men and women in uniform and their missions around the world, I have created a painting depicting the American Bald Eagle as the central subject and a brief history of Airborne from its formation in 1942 by General William C. Lee to the many units of Airborne today.
My inspiration for this painting has been influenced by my observation of many young families in the armed forces and the loses that they have incurred, thus an interest in their children's future.
Along with the association of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (Tampa, Florida) and the Airborne and Special Operations Museum (Fayetteville, NC) this painting is now being reproduced by the artist as a high quality collector print on 100% rag stock. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these prints will go to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation's scholarship fund to help secure the future of many of these well-deserving children.
It is our desire that many will participate in this fund raising endeavor as an act of appreciation to our many patriots and their families around the world.

At the center of his montage is the American eagle, our national symbol, and also a vivid reminder of the courage, fighting prowess and selfless service of paratroopers and special operations troopers. Grouped around the eagle are the insignia of the airborne and special operations units that have fought in our nation's wars, from the drop and landing zones of World War II, through Korea, Vietnam, and the Persian Gulf to the Global War on Terriosm. Of special note is the portrait of General William C. Lee, "Father of the Airborne," whose heroic service led to the creation of the airborne units that were the "Tip of the Spear" for the American Army in World War II.
